The Virginmarys kan ha gjort årets platta

För tre år sedan släppte The Virginmarys ett grymt bra debutalbum.

Nu har uppföljaren kommit.

Och Divides blev en av årets bästa plattor!

När ett band släpper att grymt första album så är det svårt att veta hur det blir med en uppföljare. Det kan ju alltid gå vägen och bli något bra igen, men lika ofta kan det gå åt helsike.

När det gäller brittiska The Virginmarys (de kommer från Macclesfield), som består av Ally Dickaty, Danny Dolan och Matt Rose behövde man inte vara orolig.

På något sätt lyckas de blanda alla möjliga rockstilar till sin egen. Det är punk, det är blues, det är hårdrock, det är grunge, det är indie … och framför allt: Det är ta mig tusan alldeles lysande!

Att välja ut några spår som är lite vassare går knappast. Allt är så jäkla bra.

På For you my love blir det lite Billy Idol-rock. Billy Idol när han var som bäst alltså.

Det blir lite rakare, lite mer punkrock med Halo in her silhouette och Free to do whatever they say.

Det är nästan löjligt bra. Det går inte att inte imponeras över vad det är The Virginmarys har lyckats snickra ihop.

Det blir lite lugnare i Walk in my shoes, men det tar fart igen med Kill the messenger och därefter är det dags för den första singeln från Divides, Into dust.

Moths to a flame är lugnare och det blir lite mer vanlig rock, stundtals är det nästan lite folkrock, över det.

Motherless land är en riktigt svängig grej – och kanske den största favoriten på plattan.

Den är favoriten!

Det är en av årets bästa absolut låtar vill jag påstå.

The Virginmarys har fått till en fullträff igen. Divides är en platta som kommer att hamna väldigt, väldigt högt på listan över de bästa albumen från 2016.
